What is an ‘underride’ accident?

An underride accident is where a motor vehicle, a car usually, goes underneath a tractor-trailer. Federal regulations require a guard at the rear of a tractor-trailer which usually holds up, but there’s no such thing on a the side of a tractor-trailer so car goes under there, very often the people are killed.
